Akitakomachi is a popular Japanese rice that is slightly smaller than other rice. Compared with Koshihikari, another popular Japanese rice, Akitakomachi has a lighter flavor, is glosseir, and less sticky. Even if cooled, the delicious taste is maintained. Mainly produced in Akita Prefecture in northern Japan, the name Akitakomachi is derived from Onono Komachi, a famous poet from Akita.
